Meredith Potter
Meredith Potter serves as the Executive Director of the American Security Fund (501)(c)(4)) and the American Security Foundation (501(c)(3)), the latter of which works to ensure artificial intelligence (AI) is understandable, controllable, responsible, ethical, and human-centered, including by educating faith communities about AI; involving faith leaders in AI development, deployment, and regulation; and ensuring children interact with AI safely. Last fall, they convened the Rome Summit on AI Ethics at and with the Vatican. This year, they are continuing to educate faith communities about AI; convening a follow-up Jerusalem Summit on AI Ethics; and building an evaluation tool to assess Large Language Models (LLMs) for accuracy, attitudes towards faith and faith communities, and child-specific features. Previously, she worked for the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), where she focused on Asia, digital infrastructure (globally), and China’s investments in third countries (also globally); the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID); the State Department; the Atlantic Council; Kissinger Associates; and Schmidt Futures, where she helped Dr. Henry Kissinger, Dr. Eric Schmidt, and Dr. Dan Huttenlocher of MIT co-write their book, The Age of AI." She is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a double graduate of Yale University (BA, MA). She is a devout Christian and a regular attended of a Presbyterian church in the DC area.
